Read on to learn more about Jeff and why it might be best not to disturb him after the sun goes down.

How did you get your start in the industry?

I got introduced to the industry when I was managing properties, and I needed to offload judgments and discovered there was a whole industry that was buying and selling debt. Back when I started that was the wild west days, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I haven’t achieved that yet.

When or how are you most productive?

Mostly nights.

Which industry professional do you admire most?

The collection managers and the collectors who get up and go to work every day and pick up the phone and talk to the borrowers.

What is one thing you do better than everyone else?

I wouldn’t say I do things better. I just have a lot of passion and I’m driven to change this industry.

What do you like most about this industry?

I’m loyal by default. I follow my gut on my decisions. I got my start in this industry, so I have the up most respect and gratitude for the space and I try to give back any way I can with the time I have to spare.

What is one thing you wish you could change about this industry?

Old leadership and negative reputation and I like to inspire the new leadership to move this industry forward.

If you weren’t in this industry, what would you be doing?

I would be on the banking side, dealing with things like credit, whole loan sales, m&a, and raising capital.

Describe a typical work day.

I wake up around 5:30 a.m., get the kids off to school, and then work out. Once I get back, I clear out my emails and get ready for my daily conference calls and random calls in between.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Planning too far ahead in the future.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Be accountable.
